Come join us in a unique learning community where you can share, learn, and grow with a select group of leaders. These leaders come from a variety of companies and industries around the country. At Leaders' Forum we work at becoming more effective in dealing with human system issues such as leadership, communication and change.

Leaders' Forum is a break from the usual conferences, seminars, and vendor shows where someone is selling the "one right answer." The people we invite are real leaders, like you, with something special to contribute--their experience and a passion for learning.

Boss's Page
If you need approval to attend Leaders' Forum we have provided a succinct page useful for bosses that you can print and give to your boss. Follow this link to the page...

People Who Attend:

  • Executives, managers, and technical leaders
  • Consultants who advise executives, managers, and technical leaders
  • People developing their power to enhance communication and collaboration in organizations
  • Life long learners, especially those interested in learning about themselves and their leadership styles and skills
  • People interested in connecting with others who share the belief that being professionally competent and acknowledging their humanness are compatible goals.

We limit each Forum to 12 participants.

Leaders' Forum attendees have come from Bally Gaming & Systems, Charles Schwab, Computer Associates, Corning, EDS, Empire Fire & Marine, IDEXX Laboratories, Itron, JKS & Associates, KL Ginter and Associates, Inc., L.L. Bean, Marco Consulting, Microsoft, MindView, Inc., Monsanto, Norand, Norwest Corporation, ObjectSpace, Omega Point Consulting, PCS Scanning, Inc., Petersen Plumbing, Philip Morris, Philips Electronics, Ralston Purina, Reuters Canada, Rockwell Automation, Salans, Sapiens, SGC-Sviluppo Gestione Controllo, Solvera, LLC, Sun Microsystems, Universal Underwriters Group, Utilicorp United, and State of Texas Dept. of Human Services.

How Leaders' Forum Is Organized:
Prior to arriving at Forum information will be shared via a Forum Directory. The Forum Directory will provide information in a common format about each participant and topics that interest them. The Forum Directory is intended to help participants begin to "meet'' each other. The Directory is designed to help participants prepare to arrive in Mt. Crested Butte ready to talk about topics they might want to schedule as sessions.

The agenda and schedule for the week are not pre-planned. On the first night immediately following a welcome supper, Wayne and Eileen Strider provide a flexible structure and process to get things started. Using the structure and process Forum participants create a schedule of sessions for the week. The resulting schedule is a living schedule and adapts to meet the changing needs of the participants during the week.

One way forum participants share their knowledge, experience, ideas, and concerns with each other is by leading informal sessions. Sessions are typically one hour forty-five minutes. A "session" may be a discussion group, an exercise or simulation, a presentation, or some other format that encourages group participation and sharing of ideas. A session topic may be one that a participant wants to learn more about, or one that he/she has some expertise to share with others. It is not necessary to be an expert on a topic to lead a session. Wayne and Eileen also lead sessions.

A Unique Opportunity Makes Leaders' Forum Different from Other Conferences and Workshops. You will have the unique opportunity to work on a specific leadership challenge with which you struggle. Wayne and Eileen bring a large variety of tools to help you explore your challenge in terms of its origins, effects, solution strategies, and resources available to you. You will choose either Wayne or Eileen to help you apply the tools. While you explore your challenge the other participants will support you. As you learn, they also learn from the experience through observation and support.

In the spirit of maximizing participants' value from Leaders' Forum, we count on each participant to lead a session or work on a specific leadership challenge. Participants can lead as many sessions or do as much specific work as time permits.

A Word about Safety:
During Leaders' Forum you may experience emotions that surprise you both in their intensity and range. We do our very best to create a safe, supportive environment with lots of choices. Quotes and articles from past participants attest to that. If you choose, you can look at your emotions as information for your own learning. No one is forced to do anything that doesn't fit. Everything is optional.

A Typical Day at Leaders' Forum:
A typical day at the Forum will start with breakfast together (perhaps after a morning hike), followed by a morning of lively discussion on such topics as listed above and/or others you are interested in. The afternoon will be open for arranging whatever seems best for you, with whomever you can convince to share it. You will be with the most interesting bunch of leaders you could ever hope to find. After supper there will be more and/or continued lively discussions on topics of common interest for as long as our energy lasts.

Location:
We selected Crested Butte because it is an inspirational place. It is 200 miles southwest of Denver and 30 miles north of Gunnison County Airport. We are familiar with it. We chose the Nordic Inn because we know it is the kind of place that supports this type of activity. During June there is no rush of skiers and the rates are very reasonable.

How to Receive an Invitation:
