Sheila Smith, Omega Point Consulting Leaders' Forum 1999
Deb said it well: "An unending mecca for an East Coaster." From Palm Beach, Florida it felt like forever to get there. And I was only staying a short time, not the whole week!! The Leaders' Forum came before and after a slew of trips where I seemed to land at an airport and then have to drive many hours before I reached the ultimate destination (and I even like driving trips!). I vowed I wanted to only go places for the next 6 months that were located near big airports!! :)
What was so special about the Leaders' Forum?
- being asked in the first place---to join this special group of people in this special setting (thanks, Marie, Wayne & Eileen!)
- being with folks who didn't know me well but cared immediately
- getting deep inside myself to explore issues that I had been putting aside in the rush of day-to-day work
- remembering what's important in working with colleagues and clients and what is passionate about my work---reconnecting with that in a most real way
- making insightful discoveries about myself, Marie, Deb, our consulting business, Omega Point history and dynamics, life and work
- facing tough challenges with the support of others willing to be open and take risks with me
- learning about the Satir System approach and how her methods are relevant to our work in consulting
putting more of "me" back in the picture and bringing the five freedoms (well, at least a few so far) to life after I left
sharing the hopes of others
- helping others work through important issues---it was so easy to step into the lives of others in this group and be connected at a deep level quickly
- remembering how nature can renew our spirit and taking advantage of it
And if all that wasn't enough, it was great fun. And, as Russ said "I'll be processing the learnings from this for a loooong time." Let's stay connected throughout the year.
