Leaders' Forum is a week-long residential learning experience during which attendees work on their specific leadership challenges. The goal is to close the gap between the leader each attendee wants to be and the leader he or she is now. Wayne Strider and Eileen Cline Strider have conducted Leaders' Forum since 1994.
What Attendees Can Learn:
Attendees can become more skilled and accomplished at navigating sensitive situations such as:
- Working with a boss or customer whose expectations seem to be constantly changing
- Preparing work groups to change and adapt to new ways of doing their work
- Dealing with vendors who aren't meeting contractual obligations
- Leading others without having to tell them what to do
- Delivering feedback and managing performance problems
Attendees can learn how to use their awareness of the current situation to evaluate what they and their organization are doing. For example, they will learn how to:
- Recognize culture clashes among organizational groups and be able to articulate them in creative and productive ways.
- Recognize when things are off track and know what to do to put them back on track.
- Give and receive more useful information.
- Reduce risk and build their team's or organization's confidence in their plan.
Attendees can gain insights into and develop strategies for what to do during those stomach-churning times when they want to run away and hide. Such as when:
- They receive negative feedback from their boss, peers, and employees.
- They confront others about not getting the support they need.
- Their needs are in conflict with others' needs such as their boss, peers, and employees.
- They feel overwhelmed by others or circumstances.
